Historical Park in the village of Neofit Rilski

Madara Horseman
The Madara Horseman is located 69 km away from the hotel. It is a wonderful destination to visit, walk and enjoy lovely views and fresh air.
The Madarа Horseman is a unique rock relief dating from the beginning of the 8th century. The monument is carved on a hundred-meter almost vertical limestone cliff and it is the only similar relief of the territory of the whole of Europe, without parallel in the European cultural heritage.
The carefully crafted composition of the relief presents a hunting scene, in which a life-size horseman is depicted riding on the right, stabbing a fallen lion in the horse's front legs with a spear. There is a flying eagle in a heraldic pose in front of the rider, and behind him – an image of a dog. There are inscriptions in Greek telling about important moments in the Bulgarian history around this scene.
The historical-archeological reserve ‘’Madara” was created in 1958 and there are different eras objects of exceptional importance for the Bulgarian cultural heritage within its borders. Among them are the Madarа horseman, the Madarа fortress, a Roman villa, an old Bulgarian bath, two caves, one of which is said to have been used as a Thracian sanctuary in the 4th - 3rd centuries BC, a rock monastery and others included in the UNESCO list as a monument of global importance.
Ovech Fortress
Ovech Fortress is located 29 km away from Carpe Diem hotel. Ovech is а medieval fortress located east of the today's town of Provadia. It was built on shape of a ship plateau, known as „Kaleto“.
The plateau is surrounded by rock ranges from 11 to 25 m high on all sides.
Тhe fortress was built by the Byzantines in the 4th century, but the Thracian presence has been proven even before their intervention. However the greatest development was observed during the Middle Ages or the Second Bulgarian Kingdom more precisely.
Salla Estate Winery
Salla Estate Winery is located 20 km away from Carpe Diem hotel. There you can enjoy an aromatic and delicious tasting of their wine.
Salla Estate Winery was established in 2010. It is located in the village of Blaskovo, Municipality of Provadiya. The village finds itself in the heart of the famous Provadiya Plateau Sarta, only 60 km away from city of Varna. Nearby is the only naturally protected medieval fortress Muhaliysko Kale. In its sheer cliffs is carved the Rock monastery, dated XII – XIV century. While in the Drums Cave, inhabited since the Stone Age if you listen carefully, you can hear each blow sound like an echo of a drum.
During processing of the land before planting new vineyards in the region were found Greek and Roman coins from Moesia and Thrace, fragments from potery and ceramics, dated IV century BC to XIX century which are proof of the existence of a large wine market.
Sports club "Chudnite skali"
Created with the idea of engaging and developing not one, but several types of sports, the "Wonderful Rocks" sports club and its friends continue the tradition to this day. The club attracts people with different skills, abilities and interests who give priority to activities in nature.
The club offers a variety of activities including:
- Rock climbing: Various places suitable for beginners, with a great view of the Tsonevo dam. Ability to organize groups with instructors and discounts for larger groups.
- Kayaking: Routes of various difficulty levels near the Wonderful Rocks, including a trip to the dam wall and other beautiful places.
- Cave exploration: Possibility to visit the nearby caves, combined with climbing and various rope attractions.
- Rope attractions: A variety of rope attractions such as walking on a belt, abseiling and others are available in forested areas and in the Northern Black Sea region.

The Water Mills Ecopark
Тhe Water Mills Ecopark is located 1.4 km away from the hotel. Its location makes it the ideal destination for a pleasant and relaxing walk in nature.
Тhe Water Mills Ecopark is a protected area, located between the villages of Sladka voda, Cherni Vrah, Arkovna, Kamen Dyal and Boryana. Its territory is a habitat for many protected bird species such as egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus), golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) and gravedigger raven (Corvus corax). Foxes, deer roe, jackals and squirrels are other animal kingdom representatives inhabiting the area. Hunting is strictly forbidden.
More than 10 caves and rock niches (‘’Goat cave’’, ‘’ Duck cave’’, ‘’ Hermit's cave’’, ‘’Murch hole cave”, etc.) have been discovered in the area. Some of the rocks with a height of up to 40 meters are suitable for climbing.
The Water Mills Ecopark is well maintained. Рavilions, fountains and bridges have been built in the ecopark. Several marked paths lead to the most notable places in the area. Мany different heights waterfalls (up to 15m) are of interest.
Tsarev Brod Winery
Tsarev Brod Winery is located 83 km away from Sladka Voda village (Sweet Water village). Apart from its beautiful views, the winery will also impress you with their wine, which you can taste directly from their cellar.
Between the two old capitals of Bulgaria – Pliska and Veliki Preslav, is nestled the picturesque Shumen village of Tsarev Brod, whose name bears the winery. In the immediate vicinity is the only rock bas-relief in Europe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the Madara Horseman.
The idea for the winery was born in 2001, when Ivan Ivanov, together with his family, planted the first acres of grape vines in the village of the same name Tsarev Brod. The winery was built in 2015, a full 14 years after the first 27 hectares of vineyards were planted.The winery is located right next to the vineyard, so we achieve perfection in quality by processing the directly picked fruit.
This part of Bulgaria has been called “The home of white wine varieties”. The variety of styles and the quality of the wines produced here make it a true kingdom of these grape varieties.
Tsonevo Dam and Wonderful Rocks
The Tsonevo Dam and the Wonderful Rocks are located 17 km away from the hotel. A great locality to walk and take photos of the wonderful views and beautiful nature.
The "Wonderful Rocks" phenomenon was declared a protected area back in 1949. These incredible 40-50 meter cliffs are located right on the shore of the Tsonevo dam and they are clearly visible even from the main Provadia-Aitos road.
The dam is rich in a wide variety of fish, which makes it a meeting point for sport fishing enthusiasts. White carp, bream, carp, perch, spotted bream, sunfish, catfish, roach, carp can be caught here.
Other nearby landmarks are the Tulum cave on Arkovna реак, the Ovech fortress, the Sini vir area near the village of Debelets, the Kuza Skoka waterfall near the village of Lopushna, the rock monastery - Royak, the Varbov dol reserve, the ‘’Water Mills’’ ecopark, the ‘‘Kalfata‘‘ reserve, as well as many hiking trails.
